Flyer - Croc went in front of the gun and looped toward the guns then went back and grabbed the bird in the road.
Blind - Two whistles at the road, then two more in the middle and two last whistles for Croc to get to the blind.
Retired Gun - Croc went straight to the bird.

Flyer - Fancy went straight to the bird.
Blind - Two whistles early and one in the middle. Fancy had to get picked up on blind.
Torq and Joel had a no bird and will go back to the get their re-run.

Blind - One whistle before the road and two more whistles before the dip and then Ella went straight to the blind.
Retired Gun - Good initial line with minor quartering to get the bird.

Blind - Four whistles and a check down and Deets has his bird.

Bo and Micheal had a no bird. They go back the required 6 spots and run in the 7th spot.
Came to the line at 10:00 am
Flyer - Steeler went in front of the guns and curved directly to the bird in the road.
Blind - One whistle at the road with two more to follow before the dip. Steeler took one more blow after the dip and went on to get his bird.
Retired Gun - He drove up the field and had the bird in two right steps.
At 9:35 am we had our first gun change of the day. Our temps are at 64 degrees with an overcast sky.
The conditions have changed substantially with the wind shifting and now coming to the south and blowing at 8 mph. Wind change appears to be affecting the blind as the crosswind is causing the dogs to drift to the right. The wind change is also affecting the hunt patterns on the retired gun. Dog are hunting short and then finally working their way out to get the bird.

Flyer - Dozer had a long flyer that went across the road. He drove deep and angled the road to pin a difficult mark. Great Job.
Blind - Three whistles to the blind. Very Nice.
Retired Gun - Dozer drove out and turned right then rand down the tree line to come back to the middle of the field to make three loops. He went left of the gun station and made a loop and finally worked to the right and deeper to get the bird.
Came to the line at 9:15 am
Flyer - Sheriff got into the area of the fall and with a couple of tight loops he identified the bird and brought it back.
Blind - Getting three whistles and Sheriff was on the bird.
Retired Gun - Laser straight line to the bird.
Came to the line at 9:12 am
Flyer - Scrapper got in front of the guns and with two tight loops he had his bird.
Blind - Good initial line with getting his first whistle beyond the dip. Scrapper took one more blow to get the bird.
Retired Gun - He drove into the field, took two steps and scooped up his bird.
Came to the line at 9:00 am
Flyer - Chosen went to the left of the flyer guns and looped around to the right side. he had a short hunt in the fall area to find his bird.
Blind - Good line to the blind. Chosen had a little trouble just at the end of the blind getting slightly right but with five whistles he got his bird.
Retired Gun - He drove left of the gun station and made a quick loop to the right. Chosen hunted left again then turned left to the fall area and grabbed his bird.

Flyer - Dolly got in front of the guns and had one tight loop working deeper and she got her bird.
Blind - One whistle at the road before the dip with two more coming after it. Dolly got her final whistle at the blind for her bird.
Retired Gun - With a straight line past the middle field, Dolly veered left, then right and back left again working deeper to get her bird.
Came to the line at 8:58 am
Flyer - Mike broke down a little early but got his bird.
Blind - Two early whistles with multiple following to get Mike thru the middle portion of the blind. A couple more blows to get him on the bird.
Retired Gun - Mike broke down early to make a few loops but he moved into his mark and got the bird.
Flyer - Oakley ran to the right side of the road and made a quick hunt in the usual fall area. He then crossed the road again to get the bird.
Blind - Two whistles before the road, then Oakley received two more in the middle fo the blind. One more blow at the dip with two more to follow at the end.
Retired Gun - His line went to the right and with a quick hunt short he worked his way quickly back to get the bird.

Flyer - A short flyer that Be drove to the fall area for and immediate picked up the bird. A fantastic mark!
Blind - WOW...Lined the Bird!
Retired - WOW...Pinned the Bird! Fantastic test for Be!

Flyer - Blue got in front of the guns. Taking two loops he got his bird.
Blind - One whistle after the road and another one before the dip and one more to follow it to carry Blue to his bird.
Retired Gun - His line went towards the holding blind. But he hooked right and came back around to get the bird.

Flyer - Very long flyer that landed across the road. Tucker drove deep and wide and quickly hunted to the other side of the road and removed the bird. Great Mark.
Blind - A five whistle blind and Tucker was on his bird. Nice Blind
Retired Gun - He drove hard right to the trees where he immediately turned left and went straight to the bird. Another Good Job.

Flyer - Lefty went down and back with his bird.
Blind - With an early whistle to move lefty a little right, he then received three more to complete the blind.
Retired Gun - Good Job!

Flyer - Lulu angled behind the gun for one loop then took a shorter loop near the road to get her bird.
Blind - One whistle before the road that carried Lulu close to he blind. Two more came to get her to the bird.
Retired Gun - Lulu’s line took her toward the holding blind, but she angled right and went directly to her bird.
Molly was scratched from the event! Congrats to her and Tracy for qualifying!

Flyer - Dottie took a couple of tight loops then she was on her bird.
Blind - Dottie took a couple of early whistles to adjust her line and then three more in the middle of the blind with the final whistle to put her on the bird.
Retired Gun - Good job on this bird.

Flyer - Shorty drove to the fall area and with a short hunt she found her bird.
Blind - Nice blind by Shorty getting only four whistles.
Retired Gun - Shorty drove to the fall area then veered off. Nearing the trees she made a left and grabbed her bird.

Flyer - Bang swung around the back of the bird creates then got his bird.
Blind - An early whistle to adjust his approach through the field and another blow came in the middle portion of the blind which carried him to the bird.
Retired Gun - Very nice mark!
Hawk with handler Bill Woodson came to the line at 7:15 am
Flyer - Hawk ran to the right side of the road, then angled across it and went straight to the bird.
Blind - Two whistles in the middle of the blind that carried Hawk past the dip and to his bird.
Retired Gun - He ran to the area and headed to the right then made a left to get his bird.
Flyer - Zeke drove straight to the fall area and retrieved the bird. Great Mark!

The temps are in the 60's and there is a damp feeling in the air. The wind is coming in ESE which is 180 degree difference from the way the wind was coming in yesterday.
Lighting is muted and high clouds are still and promising to bring rain by late morning.
Mary and "Annie" came to the line at 6:30 am
Flyer - The flyer landed across the road. Annie angled right of the road but took a couple of short loops toward the guns before heading back toward the water. She crossed the road and got her bird.
Blind - One whistle before the road and another at the road. Annie got two more at the dip and one at the blind to get the bird.
Retired Gun - Good line toward the hidden holding blind then Annie curved directly to the bird.

Good Morning on day 2 of the 2021 National Amateur Retriever Club Championship here in beautiful Mondovi, Wisconsin! Happy Father's Day to all the great dads joining us today.
We will be starting with dog #44 Katie. Dottie #43, our last running dog yesterday will be placed back 6 spots for her re-run this morning. We have 44 that need to come to the line for the chance to complete 1st & 2nd Series Interrupted Double with a Blind.
Weather may pay a part in today's events. We have a 50% chance of rain start at 11:00 am, but it increases to 80% by 2:00 pm. We will be paying close attention to this.
As of now, we are at 57 degrees with a ssw wind at 3 mph. We will be back soon with our test dog.
Our day started with the singing of the National Anthem by Rylee Rosenburg. Shortly after, our first test dog, Lock Five’s Polk Salad Annie, “Annie,” LF, owned by Randy and Mary Spangler and handled by Mary, came to the line at 6:20 am. Our second test dog Pedretti’s Zeus , “Zeus,” LM, owned & handled by Bobby Raasch came to the line at 6:33 am. After our contestants got a good look at the 1st Series test, our first running dog #89 FC-AFC Abby’s Physician Of Antioch, "Luke" with owner/handler Dan Hurst, started the 63rd running of the 2021 National Amateur Retriever Club Championship at 6:59 am!
Our weather started in the 60’s and reached in the upper 70’s. We had a slight breeze through out the day ranging from 8-11 mph coming from the northwest. All in all it was a great day to be in the field with our beloved retrievers!
It was announced at the annual meeting the night before gun changes would happen every 25 dogs. Here is when they happened…
1st Gun Change – after dog #112 at 9:41 am with the next running dog #113 coming to the line.
2nd Gun Change – after dog #136 at 12:00 pm with the next running dog #137 coming to the line at 12:23 pm.
3rd Gun Change – after dog #10 at 3:14 pm where the next running dog should have been #11 coming to the line at 3:24 pm. Dog #11 received a no bird so dog #12 was the next running dog to come to the line at 3:25 pm.
4th Gun Change – after dog #29 at 5:30 pm where the next running dog should have been #30 “Mully” but he retired earlier this morning so our next running dog #31 came to the line at 5:34 pm.
Here are the way things turned out for the 1st day…

Our last running dog for the day was #43 that came to the line at 7:16 pm. She had a fly away and the day was called by the judges at 7:27 pm. Dottie (#43) will go back 6 spots and have her re-run in the morning.
104 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking 12 hours and 28 minutes which averages to be just over 7 minutes per dog.
Tomorrow, we are planning to complete the last of 44 dogs in the combined 1st & 2nd Series “Interrupted Double with a Blind.” We will start with one test dog being called to the line at 6:15 am and the first running dog #44 will be called to the line at 7:00 am.
